I had thought about replying to Andy in the comments, but decided this was best served in it's own post. I didn't see the same old team. I saw a different team but only a couple games will tell. Did they make mistakes? Yes. Was their offense next to useless? Nope, it was useless. But they played 4 quarters of football and played with some fire that I haven't seen in quite some time.
So do I have something to look forward to this season? I am not sure, but that games should be alot better than last year if they keep up this desire to actually win games.

It is possible that I saw actual passion and tenacity from Lions players, something that has never existed during my lifetime. It is also possible that it was painful gas after bad-burrito night. Given that these are the Lions we're talking about, I'm assuming the burrito explanation until proven unequivocably wrong.
There have been too many "turnarounds" and "fresh starts" from them. I have no emotion left to invest in the Lions organization based on hope. Hope is dead; I need results. I'm glad that there are still fans like Aaron who posses spirits that have not been so brutalized by the Ford Family's unimaginably incompetent management, as to still be capable of imagining a Lions team that doesn't suck, that could play with heart and grit, that exists for some purpose other than a Zen primer (It is your desire for victories that causes you pain.)... I would pay money to unload the team on some unfortunate city without a franchise... a really stupid city... LA comes to mind.

Man, that game was so terrible, it even managed to penetrate my protective Lions-fan cocoon of apathy, loathing, sarcasm, and fatalism. Boss Bailey’s interception/touchdown was classic.
Marinelli already has down that Lions' coach dumbfounded look of pain and bemusement, trapped halfway between laughing and crying, as in "Is this really happening? I can't believe they're actually this bad."
Sigh. Dashed again. But it is still early, and we have plenty more to lose and maybe win? I think the sigh was more that Andy's bad-burrito theory gained more of a foothold.
Thankfully, I didn't get to watch that travesty and instead watched some crappy AFC game.
