Friends from college

First off. Happy Birthday Andy. Not sure if it is today or not, as my memory is not the greatest but either way hope your birthday was wonderful and spent entirely in your birthday suit.

In other notes, "Fluffy" Dave came out to Seattle to give a seminar so I spent some time showed a bit of the city but mostly chit-chatted and enjoyed some good company. It was totally awesome. As part of that, with my self-imposed exile from the midwest, I feel very disconnected from my Troupe siblings. It is good to see any of them and just think of the "good old times" (tm), at the same point see where things have taken then. There is something about improv though that forges a close family connection with those that work together. That level of trust and caring really makes for amazing improv and I have to say for a team of individuals as transient as students, I think MTU (and Sue) have created a "force of extraordinary magnitude."

As for the fluffy part of "Fluffy" Dave, that is from Amanda. When I was in troupe, there was only one Dave, because DC was after my time with the troupe.

Where did you guys go?

We walked to Pike's Pub and wandered through Pike Market (quite a unique place to be certain). Then we meandered the streets of Seattle to find a Tully's Coffee shop to sit and talk about Troupe and SciFi/Fantasy books.

Why Tully's Coffee? I've never been in one (as far as I know).

I think the name Fluffy actually started before I joined Troupe. After "Top Girls", one of the chamber readings we did that fall at Tech, my castmate Charli invited me to a party afterwards at the Pink Flamingo. She and Dave gave me a ride there, and I started calling him Fluffy cause, well cause he was fluffy. His hair was fluffy. I don't think it had to do with differentiating him from other Daves, but it's hard to remember. But the name caught on and kind of grew a life of it's own, particularly in Troupe.

I had a nickname for you too, but it didn't catch on quite as much.

Hey, thanks for the b-day wishes. I managed to get through the entire work portion of my birthday without anyone knowing about it. It was great.

Not so great: the realization that I'm going to have to pull off a minor miracle, 2 master's degrees + 1 PhD in 4 years, in order to be out of school before I'm 30. Ack!

Tully's is a local coffee chain that I prefer. Seems to focus on good coffee instead of image.

You had a nickname for me? I can't recall it...

Andy, my goal is always to make it though my birthday with everyone forgetting. Made it through once. I think even my parents forgot :)

Erin Meyers is "Erin the Red" on account of her red hair. Not sure how long she's had the nickname (much longer than I've known her). And since Erin and Aaron sound the same out loud, and both your names would come up in the same circles of friends, and just following "Aaron" with your last name would be no fun at all ... I went with the hair theme again, and you became "Aaron the Bald".

You know I love you Aaron.
